They are also associated with Halloween, carved into spooky jack-o’-lanterns each year. However, learning to draw a cartoon pumpkin can be more complicated than you might expect!
They may have a simple structure, but finding the right shape can be difficult. The steps in this guide aim to break it down so you can see how easy it can be once you know what to do!
How to Draw A Cartoon Pumpkin
The first few lines we’ll create for this cartoon pumpkin design may not seem like much now, but you’ll see how they fit into the broader scheme of things as we move through the guide.
We will build the base that we will later use to build the pumpkin outline, and we will do it with lots of curved lines. There will be one long line curving to the right and then two to the left.
The upper left one gets smaller; the lower one gets longer. Once we have looked at our reference image, we can proceed to step 2.
For the second step of this how-to on drawing a cartoon pumpkin, we’ll add minor details to the sections you started in the previous step.
First, we fill in the space between the two lines on the left. We will do this with a leaf, which will have three clues to it. A central curved line will also give rise to four smaller ones.
Finally, you can add smaller curved lines connecting the top of the pumpkin. There will be a small gap at the top, which we will fill soon.
It wouldn’t be a great pumpkin without a stem, so let’s add that element now! The trunk is easy to draw. It has curved lines on the sides, with a small oval shape at the top where it’s been cut.
Before proceeding to step 4, draw a curved line that descends from the stem to the leaf. That’s all you have to do for step 3!
As you may have noticed, the real pumpkins are divided into several sections, and we will do the same for your cartoon pumpkin design. Adding these sections should be easy enough, and now let’s add two lines to get you started.
These two lines extend from the base of the stem you drew and are a mirror image. The left goes behind the sheet, and the right has no such obstacles. Now that we’ve drawn these lines, let’s add the final sections and details in the next step of the guide!
In this fifth step of our tutorial on drawing a cartoon pumpkin, you will add the last section of the pumpkin. To do this, we draw a vertical oval shape in the middle of the pumpkin.
This goes between the two lines you drew in the previous step and also filled in the space left under the stem. You can finish with simple curved lines on the stem and add details! There are so numerous ways you can count a twist to this image.
Drawing a location is a beautiful practice, and creating a Halloween scene would be a clear choice. This theme offers many possibilities, but we can choose many other themes!
Pumpkins are famous for their amazingly bright colors; this design will be no exception! We use different shades of orange for the body of the pumpkin, which helps sell the bright look they’re famous for.
We used different shades of orange to create some shading and the look of the light hitting the surface. So we used light green for the leaf and added brown for the stem. We chose these colors, but you can add others suitable for this design!
